Drove for 2 hours 15 minutes to Aldeburgh, a town we first visited 2 years ago, where parking was easy at 10.30am. Set off on a river walk which we cut short heading back on a shorter circuit to the town to get some lunch. Then headed for Dunwich which has an interesting history as a medieval town. Wonderful walk across the cliff top where you have great views of the huge beach with the white dome of Sizewell in the distance. You then walk through woods past the ruin of Greyfriars Friary and onto the heath with the beautiful purple and pink heather with yellow flowers dotted on either side. Due to time constraints we only did half the walk, looping back to the beach cafe for a cup of tea but we will be back to do the whole walk at some point. From the cafe can see Southwold with its pier not too far away, another great day out. The coastal walk on the fringes of Sizewell and back across the heath also looks like an interesting walk. 2 hours 15 minutes back on a bank holiday Monday makes it such an accessible day out.
